[0:00] A pastor's reflections, sufficiently supplied. Exodus 36, 7. For the stuff they had was sufficient, for all the work to make it, and too much. Luke 14, 28. For which of you, intending to build a tower, sits not down first and counts the cost, whether he have sufficient to finish it. [0:24] 2 Corinthians 3, 5. Not that we are sufficient of ourselves, to think anything of ourselves, but our sufficiency is of God. [0:37] The word sufficient means enough, qualified, competent, able. But I think my favorite definition for the word sufficient is equal to the end proposed. [0:50] In Exodus 36, the people of Israel had just finished sufficiently supplying the resources needed for the fabricating of the tabernacle. [1:02] Having received the command from Moses for all of those with willing hearts to contribute, the people were so willing that Moses had to literally restrain them from contributing any further. [1:15] The tabernacle, which had begun as a word from the Lord in the heart of Moses, was now physically taking shape before Moses' very eyes. [1:27] What must have been going through Moses' mind as he grasped the full impact of all that God desired for his people in bringing them out of Egypt? Little did Moses know at the time that God was not just delivering his people. [1:42] He was establishing a place for his presence. All that God does is sufficient for the task at hand. However, many times we do not see the full picture of God's sufficiency. [1:57] What may look very legitimately like God delivering his people from bondage and then repaying them for all of their back wages, was in fact also all a part of God's plan for future blessing and future sufficiency. [2:14] Exodus 12, 36 And the Lord gave the people favor in the sight of the Egyptians, so that they lent unto them such things as they required, and they spoiled the Egyptians. [2:28] Philippians 4, 19 But my God shall supply all your need according to his riches and glory by Christ Jesus. God alone knows the end that has been proposed, and he alone is able to adequately supply all that is sufficient for that end. [2:46] What may appear to be only God's supply in the moment is very often also a part of his supply for the future. God is never only focused upon what we experience as the present. [3:00] God sees the entire picture of our lives, and he is completely equal to the end proposed. Today, do not lose sight of God's sufficiency, and do not worry about a future sufficiency that only God can see. [3:16] While God is not confined to our present, we are, and we are told, that focusing on our sufficient God in the present is adequate enough for all things. [3:27] Matthew 6, 33-34 But seek you first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness, and all these things shall be added unto you. [3:38] Take therefore no thought for the morrow, for the morrow shall take thought for the things of itself. Sufficient unto the day is the evil thereof. Father, what a blessing it is to not have to concern ourselves with where your sufficiency will come from, but instead to believe that it will come. [3:59] Thank you that you are equal to all ends, and that there is no end outside of your sufficiency. Keep us focused today upon the sufficiency of your kingdom and your righteousness. [4:11] Amen. Amen.
