[0:00] A pastor's reflections. The word of his heart. Exodus 34, 4. And he hewed two tables of stone like unto the first. [0:11] ! And Moses rose up early in the morning,! and went up into Mount Sinai, as the Lord had commanded him. And he took in his hand the two tables of stone. 2 Corinthians 3, 18. [0:24] But we all with open face, beholding as in the glass the glory of the Lord, are changed into the same image, from glory to glory, even as by the Spirit of the Lord. [0:38] 1 Peter 1, 8. Whom having not seen, you love. And whom, though now you see him not, yet believing, you rejoice with joy unspeakable and full of glory. [0:52] In Exodus 35, Moses has said goodbye to the camp of Israel and is headed up the mountain of God with two tables of stone in his hands. Having spent the previous day preparing these tablets of stone, Moses is now ready to return back up the mountain and into the presence of God. [1:13] Can you imagine the anticipation? What must have been going through his mind during that climb? And how hard was the climb? And how long did it take carrying those two rock tablets? [1:28] One thing was for certain. Moses was about to experience something he could never have imagined in his wildest dreams. 1 Corinthians 2, 9. [1:39] But as it is written, eye has not seen, nor ear heard, neither has entered into the heart of man the things which God has prepared for them that love him. In leading God's people out of Egypt, Moses had experienced the power of God. [1:57] But in leading them through the wilderness, he was beginning to experience something else, the heart of God. Moses' desire was not to know more of God's power, but more of God's heart. [2:13] Exodus 34, 6. And the Lord passed by before him and proclaimed, The Lord, the Lord God, merciful and gracious, long-suffering and abundant in goodness and truth. [2:29] No matter how prepared Moses was, and no matter what he may have expected, God's revelation to Moses was far beyond anything he could have imagined. [2:43] How wonderful that the God of Moses is the same God who chooses to reveal himself to his people today. How exciting to know that we too can go into the very presence of God to experience the heart of God. [2:59] Today, don't hold back because of what you may perceive as the unknowns of God. God is always good and God is always accessible. [3:12] Like Moses, we too can hear the good news of the heart of God for us. Unlike Moses, however, we do not need to wait to have the word of God written. [3:23] We hold in our hands not tables of stone, but the pages of a book. A book that brings us into God's presence and reveals to us the word of his heart. [3:37] Love. Father, thank you for the written word of God. Thank you that your word is beyond anything we could have ever hoped or imagined. and thank you that your word reveals to us a God who loves us beyond anything that we could have ever hoped or imagined. [3:57] Help us today to open and read what you have revealed about your heart for us. Amen.
