[0:00] A pastor's reflections when it all falls apart. Genesis 27, 33. And Isaac trembled very exceedingly and said, Who, where is he that has taken venison and brought it me?

[0:12] And I have eaten of all before thou camest and have blessed him. Yea, and he shall be blessed. Proverbs 24, 16.

[0:23] For just man falls seven times and rises up again, but the wicked shall fall into mischief. 2 Timothy 2, 13. If we believe not, yet he abides faithful.

[0:36] He cannot deny himself. There's a certain sadness in the tragedy that is Isaac's family. I believe Isaac was completely blinded to the fact that his home had become so fragmented.

[0:50] The realization that he, the son of promise, had made such a mess of leading his family was almost too much for him to bear. His wife was scheming behind his back.

[1:01] His younger son was a thief and a liar. And his oldest boy was so completely ruled by his passions that he was plotting murder. Things were not very rosy at the Isaacs.

[1:12] And yet in the middle of all this drama, Isaac has a realization. God's promise has not failed. How long has it been since Isaac had revisited those words of covenant that his father had taught him?

[1:26] How long since he had rehearsed to himself the promise that God gave him on his way to Beersheba? He would be blessed and his seed would inherit the promise.

[1:38] However, before either of his sons were born, God had already made his choice of which of Isaac's sons would carry on the promise. God who foreknew their hearts and characters had already picked Jacob.

[1:50] Romans 9.13 As it is written, Jacob have I loved, but Esau have I hated. Romans 8.29 For whom he did foreknow, he also did predestinate.

[2:04] For whatever reason, Isaac had never been able to accept that fact. For Isaac, it was important to him that Esau be blessed, even if that choice superseded God's choice.

[2:14] He wanted Esau to be something he was never going to be, and he was hoping to force him into a role that God had not called him to. And now, here in this moment of revelation regarding the state of his family, Isaac has a revelation regarding his God.

[2:31] God would accomplish his own will. In the midst of all the plottings and problems within his family, God was still at work. Yes, Jacob had been blessed, and he would be blessed.

[2:44] God would see to that. For us, there are times in our lives where we purposely push past what we know is God's will. We pursue ideas and plans that we know are not pleasing to God, but we hope that we can convince him to bless us anyway.

[3:00] Unfortunately for us, we find at the end of such an endeavor, there was only pain and heartache. And like Isaac, we are shocked when the true extent of the problem is revealed. We never expected things to turn out like this.

[3:15] 1 Corinthians 15, 57 But thanks be to God, which gives us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ. However, also like Isaac, God wants us to see that in the midst of our biggest failures and mistakes, his promise never fails.

[3:31] He has promised to keep us, and he will. He has promised to bless us, and he will. He has promised to be with us always, and he will. Romans 8, 38-39 For I am persuaded that neither death, nor life, nor angels, nor principalities, nor powers, nor things present, nor things to come, nor height, nor depth, nor any other creature shall be able to separate us from the love of God, which is in Christ Jesus our Lord.

[4:03] Our plans and schemes may all at once come crashing down around us, but when they do, it only makes it easier to see that one thing that never fails. the promise of God.

[4:16] Father, thank you for keeping your word, and thank you for keeping us, your people of promise. Thank you for not only making a way for us to have an eternal relationship with you, but thank you for keeping that relationship intact, despite all of our foolish choices.

[4:33] Your promise never fails, and neither does your love for your people. Amen. vineyard line or the love hasta luego ofropia are going to have a basic stretch of gratitude, and gu Kath for a single home near the Thank you.
