[0:00] A pastor's reflections shall be. Luke 1.20. And behold, thou shalt be dumb, and shall not be able to speak, until the day that all these things shall be performed, because thou believest not my words, which shall be fulfilled in their season. Isaiah 55.11. So shall my word be that goes forth out of my mouth. It shall not return unto me void, but it shall accomplish that which I please, and it shall prosper in the thing wherein I send it. Romans 14.11. For it is written, As I live, saith the Lord, every knee shall bow to me, and every tongue shall confess to God.

[0:39] God's word is never a maybe. There is never a question of whether God's word will be followed through on or not. When God speaks, he does so with complete authority and finality. There is no way to alter God's word any more than there is any way to reverse the course of the seasons.

[0:57] When you and I encounter God's word, we can have the mistaken idea that the impact of that word is entirely up to what we decide to do with it. Will we believe it? Will we reject it? Will we act upon one part of it, but ignore another? However, according to God's word, the determining factor regarding the accomplishment of his word is not what we decide to do with it, but has he spoken it?

[1:24] Isaiah 46.11. I have spoken it. I will also bring it to pass. I have purposed it. I will also do it. God's word shall come to pass, and it shall be accomplished, whether you and I or anyone else believes it or not. So what is our part then? While our participation in God's word can never alter his word, it can, however, greatly and eternally alter our lives. Luke 11.28. Blessed are they that hear the word of God and keep it. Matthew 7.24. Therefore, whosoever hears these sayings of mine and does them, I will liken him unto a wise man, which built his house upon a rock.

[2:10] When we choose to believe and obey God's word, we bring into our lives the solid and unalterable reality of God's blessing. We become a part of something eternal and unmovable. We now stand upon truths that are forever sure and that bring that same sense of surety into our lives.

[2:29] The things of this world are temporary and passing away, as the scripture tells us, and every day we see them diminish further into the shadows of irrelevancy. Let's not focus on what is fading, but instead turn our eyes to the ever sure life-altering truth of God's word.

[2:48] For when God speaks, he speaks with authority and finality. It is finished. Father, thank you that your word always shall be accomplished. There is never any doubt or question about your word, and there is never any doubt about one day all people acknowledging that your word is true. However, let us not be a people who waits to acknowledge that truth, but who acknowledges it now, and so reap the eternal reward of doing so. Amen.
